We give thanks
22/02/2012
In our ninetieth anniversary year the LLL gives thanks to God. Please join the LLL Board and staff at the LLL 90th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service at 6pm on Friday 2nd March, 2012, at Concordia College Chapel, 45 Cheltenham Street, Highgate, South Australia, to thank and praise God for all the wonderful things He has done for the Lutheran Church of Australia through the LLL.
Ever since 14th November, 1921, the LLL has helped the Lutheran Church – with loans and services; administration and finance; buildings and personnel; and more.
In the early days of the LLL supporters donated funds through subscriptions to benefit the church. Loans (mostly for church buildings) were repaid with interest. Today, members and supporters financially assist the LLL through Legacies and Donations, and by placing funds in LLL Savings Accounts. Through this strong support, the LLL is able to provide ongoing assistance to the wider church. We praise and thank God for every one of you.
So please join us on Friday 2nd March at 6pm.
A million dollars never to be spent . . .
13/01/2012
Almost a million dollars was given to the LLL Permanent Funds in the last financial year – and it will never be spent!
It will be lent out and repaid – but not spent.
In the financial year ending 30 June, 2011, $308,509 was donated and $646,454 was left in legacies to the LLL by a wonderful collection of people. These people were able to choose an aspect of the work of the church that would benefit, and now a multitude of ministries will be blessed.
These donations and legacies were added to the LLL Permanent Funds. There are 11 Permanent Funds and they support ministries of the Lutheran Church of Australia. Most of the Permanent Funds provide a direct benefit to something specific like youth or lay ministry, overseas or home mission.
With the LLL Permanent Funds, the LLL gives a grant of 5% every year to the nominated projects based on the amount in the fund. There are no administration costs - because once the people have given their gift the project is blessed every year in perpetuity with the grant.
Please consider making a donation or leaving a legacy to the LLL. You can choose more than one ministry, and no matter which ministry you wish to support, there is an LLL Permanent Fund to suit.
More than $13.4 million
28/11/2011
Read about what has been done with more than $13.4 million in 'Together in Mission: LLL supporting the Lutheran Church 2010/11'. Now distributed to congregations (along with our 2012 Calendars), it is also available on our website.
‘Together in Mission’ is about what benefits the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) received through the LLL during the 2010 - 2011 financial year. The grants, services and interest-savings on loans are worth $13,458,652. Recipients of the grants and loans wrote articles about how their part of the church used the money. You will read about a variety of missions in Australia and overseas, involving people of many ages and qualifications.
Every LLL Savings Account helps to provide money that is lent out to Lutheran entities at lower-than-commercial interest rates. Some people decide that they do not need the interest on their LLL Savings Account. Instead a grant is made to a project of their choice, based on the total of deposits held for the project. The LLL Permanent Funds accumulate from legacies and donations given to benefit specific areas of the church through grants.
By now congregational LLL Representatives will have received multiple copies of ‘Together in Mission: LLL supporting the Lutheran Church 2010/11’. We encourage you to read this booklet to see where your support is going.
‘Together in Mission’ is also available on our website by clicking here.
Our congregational LLL Representatives also have the large and pocketsize 2012 LLL Calendars.
More than a memory - a legacy.
21/10/2011
Last financial year, the LLL was blessed with the receipt of fourteen legacies. These legacies - totalling $646,454 - have been added to the LLL Permanent Funds, where they will keep having an impact on the Lutheran Church forever.
LLL Permanent Funds are special capital (endowment) funds which use the interest that is accrued from the funds for ministry purposes - instead of using the principal amount itself. This philosophy of ‘Always lent, never spent’ ensures that your gift can generate an income stream that provides financial support for Lutheran Church projects forever.
A legacy to the LLL will leave more than memories behind. If throughout your life you have regularly given support to the wider church, why not make arrangements for that to continue in perpetuity.
By naming the LLL in your Will, you can be sure that your gift will continue to provide support for the mission of the Church beyond your lifetime.

No interest = Benefit?
07/09/2011
How can an account that doesn’t earn any interest benefit the Lutheran Church of Australia?
In the 2010/11 financial year there were 1,938 non interest-bearing accounts in the LLL and they supported projects in the Lutheran Church of Australia with grants of around $1.1 million altogether.
These generous account holders have decided that they do not need interest on their LLL Savings Account. Instead, the account holder chooses a project to support within the Lutheran Church of Australia. The LLL is then able to provide a benefit to the project each June based on 5% of total non interest-bearing deposits held for the project. Account holders might have chosen perhaps to support their local Lutheran church, school or kindergarten, national agencies, the aged care facility where they make their home, or their favourite area of mission.
The grants are gratefully received. And allow the projects to reach out in mission, repay debt, or provide many more diverse benefits. Through the grants from non interest-bearing accounts, numerous and various projects within the Lutheran Church benefit.
If you are one of those generous people – thank you.

If you have enjoyed our tracts or would like to share an idea about them, you can pass on your thoughts with the ‘Feedback Form’ under Contact on the left of the LTM site. We are interested to know what you think or suggest.
Why Finance with a mission?
20/06/2011
What does the LLL do? Have a look at our new slogan - ‘Finance with a mission’.
Finance reflects the functions of the LLL. The LLL helps the Lutheran Church with loans and deposits, and grants from the LLL Permanent Funds. In addition we provide services like REG and financial administration for the church. We also operate the Lutheran Tract Mission.
Mission carries the meaning of mission outreach and doing God’s work in the world. Mission can also mean ‘purpose’, ‘goal’, or ‘objective’. Both these meanings are true of the LLL.
While, like you, we continue to be Christians working together, what the LLL does is ‘finance with a mission’. To celebrate our 90th anniversary, we have refreshed our look – our website, our brochures, our logo, and our slogan. Our look is more contemporary and at the same time we remain the LLL.
We’ve changed our appearance. But our values and service are still the same.
09/05/2011
2011 is quite a landmark year for the LLL. It was 90 years ago that Mr Ben Koch founded our organisation with the objective of assisting the development work of the Lutheran Church. Today, almost a century later, we find ourselves in a world that is a completely different place from when we first started. Nevertheless, we still hold uncompromisingly to our original goals and ideals.
We do however, believe in embracing change when it is appropriate. For instance, this website is just one of many examples where we have adopted new technologies for the greater benefit of our customers.
Now, as we celebrate this 90thmilestone, we are introducing a new corporate look. Although contemporary, it has a certain timelessness about it which we expect will serve us well into the future. You can also expect this website to reflect the new aesthetic shortly.
Apart from these changes, the refreshed look will not affect your LLL@Home account in any way. Neither will it have any impact on your personal settings or any ministry support preferences that you might have. Meanwhile, should you have any questions about this new corporate look and its application, please do not hesitate to contact us.
I am tremendously excited at the possibilities this new initiative will bring and look forward to your support as we continue our partnership.
Best regards,
Allen Kupke
