For more than 50 years LLL has assisted to encourage and develop regular child saving behaviour through the provision of school banking in Lutheran Schools. Many children today have a guardian savings account opened by parents or grandparents who themselves had participated in regular school banking when they attended school. They can see the benefits of encouraging a regular savings habit.
When a child opens up their first account with the LLL, a gift of $5^ is placed into their account. Most Lutheran Schools offer a regular ‘school banking day’ which can enable children to develop a saving habit. A regular saving routine and teaching your child basic financial literacy can place them on a path of financial competency. Contact your school to find out more information on school banking and how they support financial literacy education for your child.
