LLL Permanent Funds

This is a special capital (endowment) fund which uses the interest that accrues from the fund for ministry purposes, instead of using the principal amount itself. This philosophy of ‘Always lent, never spent’ ensures that your donation can generate an income stream that provides financial support for Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) projects long into the future.

There are various Permanent Funds that you can choose to contribute towards. Each one supports a specific area of ministry within the LCA. So you can nominate a particular ministry you want to support through your gift and the interest income thus generated will then be used to support that ministry’s objectives.

Another way of supporting a particular ministry is by foregoing the normal interest rate on your LLL deposit account or an ‘In memoriam donation’. This is also considered as a gift of money to LLL Permanent Funds. You can either choose to support a specific listed fund, or give without any conditions and the LLL Board will use its discretion to allocate the funds to support where the need is greatest from time to time.

Why not take a look at our annual ‘Together In Mission’ brochure that tells the latest news on how the LLL is assisting the LCA.

Lutheran Media Ministry (LMM) Support Fund – Spreading the gospel through contemporary media

Lutheran Media Ministry (LMM) exists to connect people to Christ through media such as radio, TV and the internet. God is providing LMM with opportunities to share the love of Jesus via these media. LMM develops effective programs and resources to help people who are seeking the comfort and hope which only Jesus can give. More details are available on their website.

Ministry Support Fund – Supporting ministries with the greatest need

These funds are used at the discretion of the LCA for current ministry programs with the greatest needs.

Mission Lay Helper Fund - Supporting the work of lay people

There are many gifted lay workers employed within the LCA who are called to ministries of spreading the Word of God to all people. Lay workers are utilised in areas such as pastoral care, youth, schools, outreach, small groups, families, parish nursing, music and camping. The LCA Board for Lay Ministry subsidises the development of lay ministry within the LCA by assisting congregations in the employment, development and training of lay workers.

Mission Personnel Fund - Helping in church planting initiatives

The LCA Board for Mission benefits annually from the income generated by this fund. It enables the department to financially support the provision of personnel required to establish new congregations (church planting). In the initial years of establishment of a new congregation, the membership consists of few people. As a result, subsidised assistance for the payment of wages is usually necessary. Through this fund payments can be made to the congregation so that they can pay their pastor/lay worker. In the following years, as growth takes place and membership increases, the amount of subsidy provided is reduced and this allows funds to be directed elsewhere for the establishment of other congregations.

Overseas Mission Fund - Answering the Great Commission, supporting ministries abroad

The object of the LCA Board for Mission is to fulfil Christ's mission command, (Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46-47, Acts 1:8), by supporting overseas mission activity of the Church and by promoting interest in, and support of, mission endeavour on a worldwide basis.

Scholarship Fund - Enabling pastors and lay people to further their studies

The LCA provides scholarships to pastors and lay people in order to pursue further studies or special training so that they can be equipped for more effective service within the Church. This development or training is not restricted to theology only. Effective service to support the mission of the Church can be provided in many different ways and your donation or legacy can help to make these scholarships possible.

Special Purposes Fund - Helping you nominate the ministries you wish to support

The Special Purposes Fund provides a facility through which donors are able to nominate ministries of the LCA that they wish to support. These ministries may be at LCA National level (Missions, Training), LCA District level (Community Care, Tertiary Chaplaincy) or LCA local level (local congregation, school, care facility). Annual benefits will be paid direct to the nominated ministries.

Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) Fund - Supporting the development of Christian resources

Lutheran Tract Mission (LTM) develops Christian leaflets, postcards, bookmarks and small Bible-text cards for distribution in Australia and New Zealand. LTM resources are designed for a variety of purposes and are used by many Christians in congregations, homes, Sunday Schools, kids clubs, schools, hospitals, care facilities, welfare centres and funeral homes. Through Lutheran Tract Mission the LCA continues to reach out with timely Christian messages. http://tracts.lll.org.au/

Youth Ministry Fund - Helping our youth grow in their faith

The LCA Board for Youth and Family Ministry provides encouragement to young people to remain faithful to God and to reach out to others with the good news of Jesus.
A strong youth and family ministry program is essential for mission and the future growth of our Church. Strong leadership is needed to ensure that programs are put in place to train more people for ministry in congregations, districts and the LCA. Through this fund, resources can be provided to coordinate and provide youth and family ministry activities to facilitate this training. Visit their website

Home Mission Establishment Fund - Special support for new congregations

At times the LCA needs to establish itself in developing areas to share the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. New congregations are often small in membership and as a result often struggle financially in the early years. Through this fund assistance is given by way of special interest free and no repayment loans so that these congregations are able to purchase their initial facilities and/or land which will eventually be used for a new church plant. When they reach a situation where they are able to afford loan repayments, the loans are converted to normal LLL interest bearing loans on which repayments are required.
