Creating lasting support for Lutheran mission
LLL Permanent Funds are long‑term endowment funds that provide ongoing financial support for Lutheran mission and ministry.
When you make a donation to a Permanent Fund, LLL invests your gift carefully, retaining the capital. Each year, income generated from the fund is distributed as grants to support Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) projects, helping to ensure your generosity continues to make an impact well into the future.
Permanent Funds are a way of giving that balances faithful stewardship today with confidence for tomorrow.
How Permanent Funds work
When you give to an LLL Permanent Fund:
- Your donation becomes part of a long‑term capital fund
- The capital is retained and not spent*
- Income generated is distributed annually to support ministry
- Your support continues year after year
You may choose to:
- Support one of the specific Permanent Funds below, that are aligned with a particular area of mission
- Give without conditions, allowing the LLL Board to direct funds where the need is greatest
- Nominate a specific LCA ministry through the Special Purposes Permanent Fund
Types of Permanent Funds you can support
Each Permanent Fund supports a defined area of Lutheran mission and ministry. Below is an overview of the funds currently available.
Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) Support Fund
Supporting aid and development for communities in need
Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) is how the Lutheran family in Australia and New Zealand reaches out to people affected by poverty, injustice, conflict, and disaster.
Through this fund, Permanent Fund income supports:
- Clean water and food security
- Education and village bank programs
- Disability care
- Emergency assistance during natural disasters
- Refugee support both overseas and in Australia

Lutheran Media Support Fund
Sharing Christ's message of hope through media
Lutheran Media reaches people across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Support through this fund enables:
- Weekly radio broadcasts reaching more than 1 million listeners
- Online and social media outreach
- Development of contemporary resources for mission and engagement
Through media, messages of hope continue to reach people wherever they are.

Ministry Support Fund

Grants from this fund are allocated at the discretion of the LCA to support:

Church Worker Support Fund
Supporting lay ministry across the Church
Lay workers and volunteers play a vital role in sharing the Word of God and serving communities.
This fund supports:
- Training and development of lay workers
- Ministry across chaplaincy, outreach, pastoral care, education, and community services
- Congregational capacity to employ and support lay workers
Through this fund, lay leaders are equipped to serve faithfully and effectively.

This fund supports the work of New and Renewing Churches and Cross‑Cultural Ministry across the LCA.
It strengthens:
- Local mission initiatives
- Congregational outreach
- Development of a missional culture
- New mission ventures, including emerging church plants
Your gift helps support mission where people live, worship, and gather.
International Mission Support Fund
Partnering in mission beyond Australia
Through partnerships with overseas Lutheran churches, this fund supports international mission work under the Office of the Bishop.
It enables:
- Gospel partnerships overseas
- Cross‑cultural ministry
- Engagement of congregations and schools in global mission
Income from this fund helps share the life‑changing message of the gospel around the world.

This fund allows you to nominate a specific LCA ministry to support—at:

- District
- Local level
Annual income is directed to the ministry you nominate, allowing you to align your giving with your passion and calling.
Child, Youth & Family Support Fund
Growing leaders for the future Church
Strong ministry with children, young people, and families is essential for the future of the Church.
This fund supports:
- Leadership development
- Training programs for child, youth, and family ministry
- Resources to strengthen ministry across congregations and districts
Through this fund, future leaders are nurtured and equipped to share the good news of Jesus.

Donations to LLL are not tax deductible. *LLL Board policy is to retain all legacies and donations as reserves, which are not to be spent. Annual returns are used to support mission and ministry. Donations are voluntary and non-refundable.
