St Marks, Dalby is a rural congregation on the Darling Downs, Qld, who have continued to garner a sense of hope and direction in their mission despite the impact of drought. They have been actively engaged in supporting young people in their faith journey. In October 2020, St Marks received an LLL Mission Outreach Grant of $25,000 to employ a Youth Ministry Coordinator. Their application said ‘A Youth Coordinator will aim to strengthen relationships with high-school aged youth and young adults in our congregation and reach out to young people in the wider Dalby and district Community.
What a great mission and ministry calling! Pastor David Schmidt (Director, Ministry and Mission) said, ‘thank you LLL for their kind generosity.’ And we say thank you Pastor David for your work.

A $10,000 Mission Outreach Grant will enable St Peters Lutheran Church to establish a toy library on its premises. The toy library project will provide a much-needed community service and create another opportunity for the congregation to connect with young families in the area.
When announcing these grants earlier this year, Pastor Stephen Schultz (Assistant Bishop for Mission SA-NT District) commended both these projects and wished the congregations “every blessing as they continue to share the good news of Jesus with their communities”. “Once again we are grateful to the Lutheran Laypeople’s League for their generous provision of $25,000 for use in our SA-NT District to encourage mission initiatives,” Pastor Stephen said.

In its application, WHBLC said its desire is “to grow existing and pioneering new missional communities in the Wyndham area so that they may be the basis for this church plant”.
