From stormy beginnings, Redeemer Lutheran College's state-of-the-art Innovation Hub emerged to become a thriving centre of modern learning.
Redeemer, situated on sprawling 37-acre grounds in Rochedale Queensland, did not escape the damage caused by the wild weather that lashed the state in December 2023, with the Innovation Hub's official opening delayed to September 2024 as a result.
After a lot of hard work and dedication from the Redeemer team and its builders, the stunning $13.2 million facility that was built with the aid of an LLL Loan, was blessed by Queensland District Bishop Mark Vainikka at a wonderful ceremony attended by LLL team members Head of Client Relationships Samantha and Client Relationship Compliance Officer Andrew.
"The facility provides a centre for student community collaboration; that fosters a sense of curiosity, creativity and authentic investigation, innovation, enterprise and problem-solving across the STEAM learning areas," Principal Janelle Anderson said.
"We have enjoyed the opportunities to showcase many of our students' completed works, reflecting their high level of skill and talent.
"This facility is important in the Redeemer story as it marks a key construction that has drawn our teaching and learning into new and creative spaces, allowing us to challenge and expect innovative and critical thinking from our students as well as staff.
"We were grateful that Samantha and Andrew were able to be an important part of our special day, with the financial support of LLL … making this vision a reality."
Innovative versatility
The cutting-edge facility incorporates a range of spaces designed to put the focus on student-centred learning with open planned spaces for a range of uses.
These include a Film and TV studio with green screen and editing suite, a Digital Technologies laboratory (also used for eSports), Science laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology, Business Studies with meeting and board rooms for real world experience, a Visual Arts studios with kiln, a Student Café, and an imposing 4-metre LED display screen.
