John is a Chartered Accountant and non-executive director with extensive experience in strategy, finance, governance, risk management and assurance across faith-based organisations, government and the global resources sector. He spent more than a decade in senior leadership roles with Rio Tinto, serving as Chief Financial Officer of its global Bauxite & Alumina business, followed by Head of Group Internal Audit, reporting to the Board Audit Committee.
John chairs the Audit & Risk Management Committee of the Crime and Corruption Commission (Qld) and serves as Deputy Chair of the Audit & Risk Management Committee of the Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration (WA). Since 2022, he has served as Chief Operating Officer and Company Secretary of Vision Christian Media, a supporter-funded national Christian media ministry.
A committed member of the Lutheran Church of Australia, John served as Treasurer and Board Member of the Queensland District from 2023 to 2025 and continues to serve on its Risk, Audit & Finance Committee. He brings commercial judgement and governance experience to LLL in support of the Church's mission and the Great Commission.
John and his wife, Tanya, live in Brisbane and have three adult children.
