Leave a lasting gift

A legacy gift to LLL is a meaningful way to support Lutheran mission and ministry beyond your lifetime.

By leaving a gift in your Will, or by making an in‑memory donation, you help ensure that Lutheran congregations, schools, and aged care ministries continue to serve their communities with confidence and care - today and for generations to come.

Many supporters choose to give following a significant moment, such as the sale of a property or after ensuring their family's needs are met. Others are moved by a desire to leave a faith‑filled legacy that reflects their values and gratitude to God.

If you are considering giving in this way, we would welcome a confidential conversation.

In Memoriam donations

The passing of a loved one invites reflection on their life, faith, and the impact they had on others.

An In Memoriam donation to LLL is a thoughtful way to honour those memories while contributing to the ongoing mission of the Lutheran Church of Australia.

When an In Memoriam donation is made:

  • The gift becomes part of LLL's Permanent Funds
  • The capital is retained
  • An annual benefit continues to support mission and ministry well into the future*

This means your donation supports Lutheran ministry long after the moment of remembrance.

Make an In Memoriam donation

(Please include the name of the person you are remembering in the 'Surname' field. So the donation might read First Name: Joan, Surname: Smith, in memory of Barry Smith)

Leave more than memories behind

After making provision for your loved ones, you may wish to leave part of your estate to LLL.

By naming the Lutheran Laypeople's League in your Will, your gift is intended to:

  • Provide long‑term financial support for Lutheran mission and ministry
  • Strengthen churches, schools, and ministries across Australia
  • Become a lasting expression of your faith and stewardship

Legacies are held in reserve and invested carefully, ensuring they continue to provide annual support to the ministries of the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA)*.

We recommend that you seek independent legal advice when preparing your will.

Some points to remember when making your Will:

  • As Christians, we recognise that all we have comes from God. A Will can be a final expression of gratitude and faith; some people choose to include a Christian preamble.
  • Ensure fair provision is made for your immediate family to reduce the risk of future legal challenges.
  • Allow for changing circumstances by nominating a residual beneficiary.
  • Consider using percentages or proportions rather than fixed amounts to account for inflation.
  • In thanksgiving to God, consider naming LLL as a beneficiary - legacies play a valuable role in supporting Lutheran mission.
  • All legacies to LLL are acknowledged in our Annual Report.
