Supporting regular giving within your congregation
Regular Electronic Giving (REG) is a trusted, long‑standing service administered by LLL to support Lutheran congregations across Australia.
REG provides members with a simple and reliable way to give electronically, helping congregations maintain consistent income while offering flexibility and privacy to givers.
LLL administers REG free of charge to you, as a service to the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA).
Why REG works well for congregations
REG benefits congregations by:
- Encouraging regular and dependable giving
- Reducing reliance on cash handling and banking
- Simplifying administrative processes
- Supporting members who are away, unwell, or travelling
- Providing a confidential and dignified alternate way for members to give
Funds received through REG are clearly allocated to the nominated congregation or ministry.
How REG works for congregations
- Members authorise regular electronic offerings via LLL
- LLL processes direct debits securely
- Offerings are transferred into the congregation's LLL REG facility
- Congregations receive distributions as an anonymous sum
How your congregation can participate in REG
Congregations wishing to offer REG can follow these steps:
- Confirm congregation participation
Confirm that your congregation is approved to receive Regular Electronic Giving (REG) contributions through LLL. If you're unsure, LLL can assist with this check.
- Set up a dedicated REG facility
To receive REG contributions, your congregation will need a dedicated REG facility with LLL.
This involves:
- Opening an Associate LLL Business Facility*
- In the Facility Name (Suffix) field, include "REG" followed by your congregation's name
- LLL will establish the REG facility and notify you once it is ready to receive donations.
- Promote REG to your members
Once your REG facility is established, encourage your members to consider REG as a regular, anonymous and reliable way to support your congregation.
LLL provides a range of ready‑to‑use promotional materials. These resources can be used during services, in newsletters, or as part of stewardship conversations and can be found further below.
- Support members with their REG forms
To begin giving via REG, members complete:
- The Direct Debit Request Form, and
- The REG Service Agreement, and then
- Submit these documents directly to LLL for processing.
Congregations are welcome to guide members to the relevant forms. For more personalised assistance, members can also contact LLL directly. Our team is happy to help.
- Reporting
Once REG donations are received, they can be viewed and monitored through this dedicated facility via LLL Online.
REG donations are:
- Reported as anonymous lump sum amounts (individual donor details are not disclosed)
- Deposited in line with donors' chosen direct debit instructions
- Received at varying times and frequencies throughout the month, depending on individual donor arrangements
This reporting approach supports donor confidentiality while providing congregations with clear visibility of REG income.
Resources to help promote REG
LLL provides ready‑to‑use promotional resources to support congregations, including:
- Church advertisements
- Pew bulletin graphics
- Letters or inserts for members
- REG brochures
- REG cards (these are placed on the offering plate in lieu of cash)
These materials can be used in:
- Church services
- Pew sheets and newsletters
- Websites and social media
